Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics

Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics
The Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics will take place from 6 to 22 February 2026 and represent a historic event for Italy, which will host the Winter Games for the third time, after Cortina 1956 and Turin 2006.
The event will feature a distributed format, with competitions held in several locations across Lombardy, Veneto and Trentino–Alto Adige, including Milan, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Bormio, Livigno and Predazzo. Milan will serve as the main hub for the opening and closing ceremonies and for ice sports.
Verona and the Arena
Within the Milano-Cortina 2026 project, Verona has been identified as a symbolic venue for opening and closing events, with the Verona Arena proposed as a host location for ceremonies of great scenic and cultural value. The use of the Arena would represent a strong link between sport, history and Italian cultural heritage, offering a unique setting on a global scale.
The Olympics will strongly focus on sustainability, innovation and the use of existing infrastructure, aiming to reduce environmental impact. Thousands of athletes from all over the world will compete in disciplines such as alpine skiing, skating, ice hockey, snowboarding and biathlon.
Milano-Cortina 2026 will be an important opportunity for international visibility, economic development, and the promotion of Italy’s Alpine regions
